Coming into today's game against the Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Chargers receiving core has been decimated by injuries. Scoring the first touchdown for LA today was second-year tight end Stone Smartt who went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft.
Smartt was a seldom-used receiver as a college senior but somehow carved out a role as an undrafted rookie in 2022. The Sacaramento, California native played his prep ball at Del Oro High School in nearby city of Loomis.
The Chargers' 2022 rookie class reported to training camp on Tuesday, with one of their undrafted signees needing more time until he's ready to hit the field.
The Los Angeles Chargers announced that they are placing TE Stone Smartt on the non-football injury list. Smartt played quarterback at Old Dominion University and is now transitioning to tight end with the Chargers in his first NFL season.
