With his current deal set to expire imminently, Matt Hardy has been offered a new contract by AEW.

Hardy's AEW contract is slated to expire this month (March). On his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy revealed that he's been offered a new deal to remain with the promotion. Hardy said the contract offer is for "a few years."

Hardy noted that he's looking through AEW's offer and still weighing his options. Whatever the 49-year-old Hardy decides to do, he wants to get the most out of the remaining years he has left in the ring. Hardy said that, within the next month, he should have an answer about his future:

So, yeah, there is a little news to go along with my contract negotiations. I have an AEW contract sitting in front of me for a few years. And I’m looking through it - I’m like deciding what I want to do going forward. There’s obviously still some options. I got to make sure that I’m aware of the ins and outs of the contract, and I want to make sure everything is up to par as far as like what I want it to be. Because once again, as I say pretty often, I know that I only have a couple more years left at doing this - and I want to make the most out of those years, whatever it may be. I want to be optimized in whatever I am doing, so that’s very important to me.

So I’m very happy to be invited to return to AEW and work for AEW for the foreseeable future, but we shall see. Because right now I’m just currently weighing out the options. There’s a couple things out there, and I would say in the next month, I should probably know what my immediate future’s going to hold.

Hardy has been part of the AEW roster since 2020. His brother Jeff Hardy joined AEW in 2022.

During this period of uncertainty over his contractual future, Matt Hardy attended the March 18 episode of WWE Raw in his home state of North Carolina. Hardy explained on his podcast that it was an "innocent thing" where he and his wife Reby were invited to the show by one of Reby's friends who has a suite at Raleigh's PNC Arena.
