Insight Into Wes Lee’s Surprise Return On NXT Television
WWE

It’s been a bit since we’ve seen him, but now we have some insight into Wes Lee’s surprise return on NXT television on the April 30th, 2024 show.

Now, there’s a reason for stressing that this was indeed a big surprise return by Wes Lee. Several reasons, actually. In early December of 2023, Lee stood in the ring at the Performance Center and announced that he was going to be out of action. We were told that he had sustained a significant back injury. The timeframe is where things get interesting. At the time, reports indicated that Wes Lee would miss something around eight to twelve months..

A long road back

Announcing that in December, you think that best case he’s back maybe in the summer. Worst case, it’s the tail end of 2024. Possibly even early 2025. After all, you have to recuperate and then, when cleared, work your way back into ring shape. Depending on the nature and severity of the injury, getting cleared for in ring action might take a bit of time. So imagine everyone’s shock when, just five months after the injury news broke, and at least three months ahead of schedule, Wes Lee made a surprise return to NXT.

Not only a return, but a return to confront Oba Femi. Femi holds the North American Championship, which is a title Lee once held. Taking on Oba Femi would be perhaps Lee’s biggest challenge in the ring to date. If that turns out to be his first major feud following his injury hiatus? Even bigger. Per Fightful, Lee is indeed 100 percent cleared to return to the ring, so it would seem he is gunning for his former championship. Even if Wes Lee cannot defeat Oba Femi, getting such an exciting Superstar back is a good thing.
