An MLS broadcaster might have a future in voice acting. Charlotte FC play-by-play man Will Palaszczuk is drawing comparisons to Mickey Mouse after his voice cracked during a broadcast.

The moment — which has since gone viral — occurred when Charlotte FC’s Karol Swiderski scored a goal to give the club a 2-0 lead on FC Cincinnati. Below is the clip that drew so much attention.

Palaszczuk’s call seemed to catch viewers off guard. His play-by-play call was in a more normal tone, but when the goal was scored, things changed pretty drastically.

It’s not unusual for soccer play-by-play commentators to become overly excited when a goal is scored. But the pitch of Palaszczuk’s voice drew a lot of attention. Several fans made the Mickey Mouse comparison on social media.

“Mickey Mouse testing his hand at commentary,” one Twitter user wrote. Another chimed in, “Didn’t know Mickey Mouse was a commentator in the MLS.”

A third already rebranded the league to “Mickey League Soccer.”

Who knows, perhaps if Palaszczuk decides he doesn’t want to call MLS games any longer he can take a shot at voice acting. Disney can never have too many Mickey Mouse sound-a-likes waiting on deck.

Palaszczuk’s excitement for the game didn’t last too long, unfortunately. Charlotte FC squandered the 2-0 advantage. FC Cincinnati scored two goals of its own and forced a 2-2 draw.

Will Palaszczuk joins in on the joke

So, you might believe that Palaszczuk would try to avoid social media after his clip went viral. But that’s not the case at all. Instead, the soccer broadcaster decided to lean into it.

Over the weekend after seeing his video made the rounds, the play-by-play took to Twitter to make fun of himself. He posted a GIF of Mickey Mouse — which showed the iconic Disney character whistling while walking on the sidewalk.

He could’ve avoided social media completely and we all would’ve understood. Nobody wants to be constantly teased on those platforms. But it appears that Palaszczuk has a pretty good sense of humor.

That’s the best way to be, too.
