Liverpool Defender Ibrahima Konate Calls For More Signings After Alexis Mac Allister Transfer

The Reds performed underwhelming last season as they missed out on Champions League qualification after finishing fifth in the Premier League.

However, Jurgen Klopp's side managed to qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League after finishing the campaign strongly.

Liverpool will be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Roberto Firmino who will all leave the club when their contracts expire this summer.

The Merseysiders have already added Alexis Mac Allister to their squad from Brighton on a five-year deal but Konate wants the club to replace the four outcoming players in order to be able to compete with the big clubs next season.

“Of course, I think everyone knows that. I think the coach and those in charge of recruitment know that we need new players. I believe we have four players leaving this season: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, James Milner and Firmino,”  the France interantional told RMC Sport in France.

“We have to replace them. If we don’t replace them, what do we do? Are we understaffed and lacking in quality? We cannot play with young people at this level.”

The 24-year-old added: "We had a rather complicated start to the season. Afterwards, as we have seen over the last two months, we have a certain pressure, we have really remobilised."

"We said to ourselves "But our objective is the Champions League" and when we look at our last 10 or 11 games, there are 10 victories I believe. It's us, it's the players: at one point, we screwed up on the season. 

"But it happens to have seasons like that, we are lucky to have our supporters who are always behind us. The season is over, you don't have to think about it again. We have to remember the mistakes we made and think about next year. I'm sure it's going to be a very good season."
