Legendary Ex Inter Milan President Praises Steven Zhang: ‘He’s Running Inter Well Even From Abroad’

Legendary former Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti feels that Steven Zhang has run the Nerazzurri well despite not being in Italy.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews, Moratti praised the current Inter President on the job that he’s done.

Zhang has not been at a single Inter match in person this season.

The reason is that the Nerazzurri President has not been in Italy since the start of the campaign.

Zhang had been in Italy for the run-in of last season. There, he attended all of Inter’s matches as the team clinched a top four spot in Serie A, won the Coppa Italia, and reached the final of the Champions League.

But this time around, Zhang has stayed in China.

The reason is that the Nerazzurri President is working on business matters. Chief among them has been securing a new loan from US fund PIMCO to refinance Suning’s debt to Oaktree Capital and keep them at Inter.

It is not as though Zhang’s absence has hurt Inter, however.

The Nerazzurri’s season has been near perfect – at last domestically.

There is the disappointment of a round of sixteen exit from the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

However, in Serie A, Inter have been dominant. This has looked like evidence that the club’s project is thriving and growing as much as ever.

Moratti has always been a supporter of Zhang at Inter.

Asked what he’d say about the job the current President is doing now, the former President said “The same as ever.”

“He continues to get great results,” Moratti continued. “Even from abroad.”

“And that’s certainly not his fault.”
