Former Barcelona director Toni Freix feels president Joan Laporta retains the support of the members.

Freixa also can see Xavi remaining in charge of Barca next season.

He told Radio Marca of Laporta: "Due to his merits and personality, he has managed to make people see him as the independent president. If there are elections, he wins by sweeping."

Furthermore Freixa, who was a member of the Bara board, believes that for these reasons Laporta is allowed certain things: "If any of us who have been close to the presidency did a tenth of what he does, we would have left in a van a long time ago."

On Xavi's future, despite announcing his departure at the end of the season, there remains doubt.

Freixa added: "It will seem like he wants to stay but it will be complicated.

"I see that he does not want to say that he is leaving for many reasons, some contractual and also because he wants to prove and come out as a winner. He will ask for a series of conditions that will make continuity very difficult, however."
