Gray Really Keen On Leaving Everton

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Everton have reached an agreement with Saudi Arabia side Al Ettifaq for the sale of winger Demarai Gray. He states that the Toffees will get a fee of around £7.9 million and that the deal will be done today. Romano notes that the winger has already completed medical tests and will sign a four-year contract with Al Ettifaq, with the deal “done, sealed”.

Fabrizio Romano had reported earlier that Gray was pushing to leave Everton, with Saudi Arabia really keen on signing him for a long time. The summer transfer window is still open in the Asian country and he is now poised to complete the move before their deadline day on September 7.

The journalist also adds that the winger was close to joining Saudi club Al Shabab at one point in the summer window, but that all changed when the club underwent some changes at the board level and opted to sign Belgium star Yannick Carrasco instead.

What Did Gray Say About His Future?

Soon after the end of the summer window in England, the 27-year-old started to make his stance clear on his future and started to hint on social media that he wanted to leave after not being treated right by Sean Dyche. A few days ago, he posted a picture on his Instagram stories of him walking towards a car, which read: “Everton fans have always been great with me but it’s so difficult to play for someone who don’t show you respect as a person.”

He has hinted at his desire to leave and start a new journey in Saudi Arabia, where a number of Premier League stars like Jordan Henderson, Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino have moved in recent months. Gray, who was hailed as “unbelievable” by Rio Ferdinand earlier this year, has made 75 appearances for Everton in which he’s scored 12 goals and provided eight assists.
