Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer has returned to train in the group alongside his teammates ahead of Monday’s clash against Empoli.

The veteran sprained his ankle during his stay with the Swiss national team, prompting a premature return to Appiano Gentile.

But while some feared a long absence, the 35-year-old has swiftly overcome the injury scare.

Yesterday, the former Bayern Munich man resumed training, albeit separately.

But according to Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews, Sommer has now fully recovered.

Today, the goalkeeper worked regularly alongside his Nerazzurri teammates for the entire training session.

So as the source tells it, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have a decision to make ahead of Monday night’s fixture against Empoli.

The manager could decide to hand his Number One the starting gloves as it has mostly been the case this season.

On the other hand, Inzaghi could decide to rest the Switzerland international. In this case, his understudy Emil Audero would earn a rare chance to shine.

Inter Milan Goalkeeper Yann Sommer Ready To Make His Return Vs Empoli

This season, Sommer has been a reliable presence between the posts for the Nerazzurri. He has thus far registered a whopping 17 clean sheets in 28 Serie A appearances while only conceding 14 goals.

He still has the chance to either equal or break the league record for the most clean sheets in a single campaign.

Juventus icon Gianluigi Buffon currently shares the record with Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel. They both managed to register 21 shutouts in a season.
