Teenage Turkey midfielder Arda Guler made an impressive debut for Real Madrid during Saturday's 3-1 win at Arandina in the Copa del Rey.

The 18-year-old - precisely six months after joining Madrid in a €20 million move from Fenerbahce - played the first 59 minutes before being subbed off for Federico Valverde.

Guler almost scored his first goal for Madrid in the 18th minute when he hit the post with a free-kick from 20 yards.

Including that attempt, Guler recorded three shots and created two chances for his teammates.

He completed 32 of his 36 passes and two of his three dribbles.

Guler also displayed his defensive capabilities with three ball recoveries.

Central defender Alvaro Carrillo, 21, and right-back Vinicius Tobias, 19, also made their debuts on Saturday.

Joselu scored Madrid's opening goal from the penalty spot in the 54th minute after Brahim Diaz had been fouled.

Diaz then scored himself 78 seconds later to double Madrid's lead before assisting Rodrygo to make it 3-0 in added time.

A late Nacho own goal denied Madrid a clean sheet but the 20-time champions still cruised into the round of 16.

The draw for the last 16 will be held on Monday, with the next round of matches expected to take place on January 17.
