Adani: ‘How can you say Inter are so superior to Juventus?’

Former defender Daniele Adani refused to accept the suggestion that Inter ‘are so superior’ to Juventus following their victory in the Derby d’Italia.

The Nerazzurri edged out a tense 1-0 derby win over the Bianconeri after a 37^th minute own goal from Federico Gatti, the only difference maker in a fiery duel at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The result leaves Inter four points clear of Juventus with a game in hand, a key boost in the title race.

Just over three months remain in the Serie A season, making the result of Sunday night’s Derby d’Italia possibly decisive in the Scudetto fight. Simone Inzaghi hasn’t managed to win his first Scudetto with Inter yet, adding an extra layer of pressure.

Speaking on the Rai Sport programme Domenica Sportiva via Calciomercato.com, Adani responded to the suggestions that Inter are better than Juventus following their Derby d’Italia triumph.

“Inter signed Darmian and Acerbi as reinforcements two years ago, they cannot be compared to Bremer and Danilo.

“Let’s go in the middle, Inter signed Mkhitaryan and Calhanoglu, who no-one wanted, and they’re not Locatelli, who cost €40m, or Rabiot, who reached the World Cup final with France.

“In attack, Inter lost Lukaku and Dzeko and signed Thuram, who no-one valued at this level. Juve signed Vlahovic for €90m. How can you say that Inter are so superior?

“They demonstrated it on the pitch with the value of football, I evaluated the players’ path in the two-year period.

“Juventus didn’t do well with Di Maria, De Ligt, Kulusevski. Inter signed the free transfers that no-one wants. Guys, you don’t value work.”

Inter’s game in hand is against Atalanta and will be played on February 28, having been postponed due to their Supercoppa Italiana commitments.
