‘A Revelation This Season’: Tottenham Hotspur Hand New Long-Term Contract to ‘Brilliant’ Star

Tottenham Hotspur have started 2024 looking for ways to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad and also seem to be keen on prolonging the stay of their important squad players. Consequently, they have now confirmed that young midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is here to stay for the long term.

Spurs Make Statement On New Deal For Sarr

Tottenham confirmed that the 21-year-old midfielder has signed a new contract that will run until 2030. In a statement, they stated: “We are delighted to announce that Pape Matar Sarr has signed a new contract with the club that will run until 2030. The Senegal international midfielder, 21, has been a revelation this season, his all-action style and ability to cover the ground really catching the eye in Ange Postecoglou’s new-look team.”

“He’s featured in 18 of our 20 matches in the Premier League so far this term, starting 16, and opened his goalscoring account for us in style with the first goal in our 2-0 win against Manchester United in August before also hitting the target in our 3-1 home victory over AFC Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve. He’s now up to 33 appearances for us in all competitions.”

This one also comes after Tottenham were able to tie down hard-working defender Destiny Udogie to a new contract earlier this season as Postecoglou aims to keep these youngsters in his plan for the long term. When it comes to Sarr, however, he has been a breakout star in the Premier League this season and added a lot of energy in that defensive midfield role for his side.

Sarr Rewarded For Excelling At Tottenham

The 21-year-old midfielder has made 18 appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham this season and has been able to operate in that defensive midfielder role or even as a No.8. He has four goal contributions, including goals in the wins over Manchester United and Bournemouth at home.

Sarr has featured in all but only two of the Lilywhites’ matches across all competitions this time around, adding legs and defensive compactness to the team as well as popping up with something special at times. The Senegalese midfielder was hailed as “brilliant” by his manager earlier in the campaign and has won over the club, who have rewarded him for his good work.  He has been named in the Senegal squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and will leave for the tournament after signing this deal.
