Watch: Penguins Surprise Jeff Carter Before Milestone Game

PITTSBURGH –The Pittsburgh Penguins saw their winning streak end against the Seattle Kraken, but there was still room to celebrate beforehand. The match between the Penguins and Kraken was forward Jeff Carter’s 1,300^th career game, making him just the 70^th player ever to hit that mark.

To help celebrate the moment, Carter’s two kids went to the Penguins’ locker room before puck drop to read the starting lineup. Caden and Emersyn read the lineup to the team, which featured Carter on the top line.

Head coach Mike Sullivan did the veteran a solid by letting him star on Sidney Crosby’s right wing for the opening faceoff. According to Carter’s wife, Megan, Jeff had no idea his family was in Seattle, making his kids appearing in the locker room a big surprise.

The Penguins eventually went on to get shutout by the Kraken, but Carter gained a few memories that are sure to last a lifetime. Considering Carter is 39 and at the tail end of his playing career, there may not be many more milestones to reach.

Over his 19-year career, Carter has captured a pair of Stanley Cup championships, 437 goals, and 407 assists for 844 total points. It’s a long shot, but there is a fair argument Carter should one day reach the Hockey Hall of Fame.
