Team Credits McCarron and Strong Third Period for Win Over Penguins
USA TODAY Sports

It took the Nashville Predators 60:14 to secure their sixth win in a row Tuesday night as they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins. Michael McCarron scored two greasy goals to give the Predators a 2-0 lead in the first period. Evgeni Malkin got the Penguins on the board in the second period, and Bryan Rust tied the game up in the third period. It took just fourteen seconds of overtime for Filip Forsberg to score and earn Nashville two points and another win.

After the game Michael McCarron talked about scoring two goals out of the gate.

"It was cool tonight," McCarron said. "Those games don't come around often and when they do, it definitely feels good."

McCarron's two goals on Tuesday were his second and third goals of the season.

Filip Forsberg quickly skated down the ice past Ryan O'Reilly and three Penguins players to score on Tristan Jarry just fourteen seconds into the extra time.

Forsberg was asked what happened as he was heading into the zone.

"Confusion obviously on their part. I think Factor [Ryan O'Reilly] just kind of standing there and everybody wanted his ice. Everybody ran into each other."

Contributions from depth player like McCarron are part of the team's recent success according to Forsberg.

"I think that's one of the things too. We've had different guys step up in different moments too. We're obviously a very deep team and we're going to have to keep relying on guys in different situations."

Head coach Andrew Brunette was pleased to see McCarron get two critical goals for the team Tuesday as well.

"He's a likable guy," Brunette said of McCarron. "When you have a guy that plays that hard for you, will stick up for anybody  and have fun with anybody, I think is always a great guy to be around, it's nice to see him get some goals. I was kind of hoping he'd get three, but it was two big goals for us."

The Predators will enjoy their sixth win but realize there is still plenty of hockey left to play.

"It's nice to be one over [.500]," Brunette said to wrap up his post game comments. "But we've still got a busy week."
