Senators skate past Stars for fourth straight win
Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports

Brady Tkachuk had a goal and an assist and Magnus Hellberg made 29 saves as the Ottawa Senators recorded a 4-2 victory over the visiting Dallas Stars on Monday.

The Senators are on a four-game winning streak, all on home ice. The wins have come in dominant fashion, as the Senators have outscored opponents by a 22-11 margin during the streak.

Thomas Chabot, Shane Pinto and Derick Brassard scored Ottawa's other goals.

With Ottawa starting goalie Anton Forsberg sidelined due to an undisclosed injury, Hellberg stopped 29 of 31 shots in his first game since being claimed off waivers from the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 3. The 31-year-old Swede was playing in only his sixth career NHL game, scattered over five seasons.

Joel Kiviranta and Wyatt Johnston scored for the Stars, who took their first regulation loss of the season (4-1-1). Dallas goalie Scott Wedgewood stopped 28 of 32 shots.

Kiviranta's goal put Dallas ahead at 6:31 of the first period, and the Stars held that lead until Chabot's power-play goal with 37 seconds remaining in the second period.

Chabot's marker was the first of four consecutive goals for the Senators, who were led by some familiar faces on the early-season scoresheet. Tkachuk put Ottawa ahead at 4:17 of the third period, forcing his way past Stars defenseman Nils Lundkvist and scoring the go-ahead goal.

Tkachuk is on a streak of four consecutive multi-point games. The Ottawa captain already has 10 points (five goals, five assists) over the Senators' six games.

Pinto and Brassard scored within a 79-second span midway through the third period, with the two forwards each scoring unassisted goals after forcing takeaways.

Pinto has scored in five consecutive games, setting a Senators franchise record for longest goal streak by a rookie.

Brassard scored his first goal in his first game of the season. The veteran was inserted into Ottawa's lineup in place of Josh Norris (upper body).
