Report: Panthers close to signing prized goalie prospect Spencer Knight

After just two seasons at Boston College, it appears Spencer Knight is ready to turn pro.

According to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun, the Florida Panthers are close to signing the prized goalie prospect, whom they drafted 13th overall in 2019.

During his sophomore season with the Eagles, Knight went 16-4-1 with a 2.18 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. He backstopped BC to the Northeast Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament, where the Eagles fell 4-1 to St. Cloud State.

He also represented Team USA at the World Junior Championships, helping the red, white and blue capture a gold medal. Knight went 5-1-0 in that tournament with a 1.63 GAA, .940 SV% and three shutouts.

Knight becomes the latest Boston College player to turn pro. Matt Boldy, Mike Hardman and Logan Hutsko signed deals, while Alex Newhook could also turn pro.
