Red Wings win third straight, extend Wild's misery
Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

David Perron scored two goals and Shayne Gostisbehere had a goal and three assists to help lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-1 home win over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.

Alex Lyon made 37 saves in goal and Dylan Larkin added a goal and an assist for the Red Wings, who have won three straight games.

Joel Eriksson Ek scored the lone goal for Minnesota, which has lost seven straight games. The Wild outshot the Red Wings 38-23 and were 1 of 5 on the power play. Detroit was 2 of 5 with the man advantage.

The Red Wings took a 2-1 lead with 3:07 remaining in the second period on a goal by Larkin, who fired a shot that was saved by Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson, but Larkin pounced on the rebound in front of the goal and buried the chance.

Just 1:29 into the third period, Detroit grabbed a 3-1 lead when Perron scored on a power play, taking a pass from Gostisbehere and firing a shot from the left face-off circle past Gustavsson.

It was Perron's 300th career goal.

Minnesota was awarded a power play with 4:41 remaining and then pulled Gustavsson with more than a minute left but couldn't cash in on either opportunity with an extra skater.

Gostisbehere then added an empty-net goal with 23 seconds remaining to seal the game for the Red Wings.

Detroit took a 1-0 lead with 15:54 remaining in the first period on a power-play goal by Perron, who took a pass from Lucas Raymond and fired a shot into a half-open net from the left face-circle.

Minnesota tied the game at 1-1 with 11.3 seconds remaining in the first period on a power-play goal by Eriksson Ek, who got off a wrist shot from the edge of the right face-off circle that beat Lyon to the glove side.
