Player to watch vs. Sharks: Brandon Saad
USA TODAY Sports

My player to watch for the St. Louis Blues against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday is forward Brandon Saad.

Saad has just an assist his past four games and 10 points (one goal, two assists) in his past 10 games but in his past six games, he's produced an even or plus night in each, so his play hasn't lagged, it's just he's one of the skaters where the puck hasn't gone in. Like some of the guys that are on runs right now, the puck wasn't going in for them earlier in the season and it is now.

This is a good spot for Saad to provide the Blues (8-5-1), who are on a three-game winning streak and winners of five of six, with some secondary scoring they'll need moving forward; he's done well against San Jose in 32 games with 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) and this feels like a spot where he can be effective on the scoresheet playing on that line with Brayden Schenn and Jordan Kyrou.
