Penguins Return Gruden to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports

Jonathan Gruden’s latest stint with the Pittsburgh Penguins didn’t last very long.

In fact, his travel time to get to and from the team in Seattle might have involved more time than his stay did.

Gruden’s recall from the Penguins’ farm team in Wilkes-Barre was announced Thursday morning.

Shortly before the Penguins’ game against the Kraken Thursday night, they announced that he was being sent back to Wilkes-Barre.

Gruden, 23, has appeared in five games with the parent club this season, but has not recorded a point. He also failed to get on the scoresheet in three appearances with them in 2022-23.

He has 13 goals and 10 assists in 41 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.

The Penguins acquired Gruden from Ottawa in the 2020 trade that sent goaltender Matt Murray to the Senators.
