Oilers' Josh Archibald suspended one game for hit on Jets' Logan Stanley

The Edmonton Oilers will attempt to avoid a series sweep at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night without the services of forward Josh Archibald. 

On Monday, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Archibald has been suspended one game for clipping the knee of Jets defenseman Logan Stanley in the third period of Sunday's game that Winnipeg won 5-4 in overtime. 

In the video shared on the league's website, the narrator explains that Archibald lowered his body "excessively" and should've either made the hit above Stanley's knee or avoided the contact entirely. As noted by the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), Archibald's minor penalty resulted in the Jets scoring a power-play goal and ultimately erasing a three-goal deficit en route to earning the comeback victory. 

Archibald has not yet tallied a postseason point. He recorded seven goals and six assists during the regular season. 

If Edmonton forces a Game 5, Archibald would be eligible to return for Wednesday's contest.
