New York Islanders President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Lou Lamoriello announced that forward Kyle Palmieri will be placed on injured reserve (IR) after sustaining an upper-body injury in the Islanders’ 3-2 shootout win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov.21st.

Palmieri,31, joined the Islanders organization at the 2021 NHL trade deadline — which saw the New Jersey Devils trade Palmieri and veteran forward Travis Zajac to the Islanders in exchange for A.J. Greer, Mason Jobst a first-round pick in the 2021 NHL draft (Chase Stillman) and a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL draft. Palmieri helped the Islanders to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2020-21 registering seven goals and nine points in 19 playoff games. He has nine points (3G, 6A) in 20 games this season. Last season he registered 33 points (15G, 18A) in 69 games.

The Islanders also announced that veteran forward Cal Clutterbuck is day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Clutterbuck, 35, has three points in 22 games.  Furthermore, the Islanders have recalled forwards Cole Bardreau and Hudson Fasching from the AHL’s Bridgeport Islanders. Bardreau, who is from Fair Point, New York, made his NHL debut in 2019-20 and picked up two points in 10 games. This will be his first NHL game since.  Last season in the AHL he registered 25 points (14G, 11A) in 45 games.

Fasching, who is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has bounced around in the NHL playing in both Buffalo and Arizona. Fasching signed a one-year $750,000 contract with the Islanders on Aug. 23. In 18 games in Bridgeport this season, he has 10 points in 18 games. He saw 11 games of NHL action last season with the Coyotes where he was held pointless. In fact, the last NHL goal that Fasching scored occurred in a 2015-16 game against the Winnipeg Jets.
