Nashville Predators sign Michael McCarron to a two-year, $1.8 million contract
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz announced today that the team has signed Michael McCarron to a two-year, $1.8 million contract that will begin in the 2024-25 season.

McCarron signed a one-year extension back in April of 2023 with the Predators and has once again earned a new contract extension.

The 6-foot-6 centre has matched his career high in goals at seven and added six assists for 13 points in 42 games with Nashville this season. He is averaging a career-high 11:52 of ice time and sits third among Predators forwards in blocked shots with 31 and sixth in hits with 91.

The Predators acquired McCarron from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Laurent Dauphin back on Jan. 7, 2020. Since his arrival, he has scored 16 goals and added 15 assists.

The Canadiens originally selected McCarron No. 25 overall in the first round of the 2013 NHL Draft. The Michigan product made his NHL debut with the Canadiens during the 2015–16 regular season and appeared in his first Stanley Cup Playoff game the following year.

McCarron notched two goals and eight points in 69 games over parts of three seasons with the Canadiens before playing in the AHL in 2018–19 and 2019–20, splitting the latter campaign between the Laval Rocket and the Admirals.

Through 200 NHL games over parts of seven regular seasons with the Canadiens and Predators, McCarron has collected 18 goals and 21 assists for 39 points, and 295 penalty minutes.

The Predators currently sit fifth in the Central Division with a 27-25-2 record and 56 points through 54 games. Nashville will be in action on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues and the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.
