Hurricanes-Wild postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests

The Carolina Hurricanes placed forwards Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis into the NHL's COVID-19 protocol on Monday less than a full week after they faced the Calgary Flames.

It appears that Carolina-Calgary matchup will now impact other aspects of the league's schedule.

Multiple reporters tweeted that Tuesday's game between the Hurricanes and Minnesota Wild in Minnesota is off after at least four more Carolina players tested positive for COVID-19.

Tonight’s Canes vs Wild game has been postponed, sources tell ESPN.

The Canes had four additional positive tests today, suggesting an active transmission.

Carolina later confirmed the news and announced that Ian Cole, Steven Lorentz, Jordan Staal and Andrei Svechnikov all tested positive for the virus.

The Hurricanes defeated the Flames last Thursday, but Calgary had a minimum of three games postponed on Monday because of a COVID-19 outbreak. As of Tuesday afternoon, the Flames had nine players and one staff member in the COVID-19 protocol.

Also on Tuesday, the Boston Bruins placed forwards Brad Marchand and Craig Smith into the COVID-19 protocol. Boston beat the Flames in Calgary on Saturday.

Carolina is next scheduled to host the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night, but it seems likely that contest could also be scrapped.
