Chandler Stephenson ejected for late cross-check
Vegas Golden Knights center Chandler Stephenson Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Vegas Golden Knights forward Chandler Stephenson was ejected from the team’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday after a late cross-check on Garnet Hathaway after a whistle.

Stephenson was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the incident, which occurred just before the game’s halfway point.

Stephenson was on Vegas’ second line on Saturday, centering Mark Stone and Brett Howden.

The 29-year-old forward has two goals and 10 points in 13 games this year. Stephenson had a career-best 65 points in 81 outings last season, just edging out his 64-point campaign in 2021-22.

Drafted 77th overall by the Washington Capitals, Stephenson started his career as a depth offensive contributor. He helped the Capitals win their first Stanley Cup in 2018 before eventually landing in Vegas in 2019. Stephenson quickly saw his production improve with the Golden Knights, which led to a pair of 60-point campaigns over the past two years.

Stephenson is on pace to break 60 again this year, but it’ll be interesting to see if the NHL’s Department of Player Safety will have him sit a game or two.
