Flames recall Radim Zohorna from Wranglers
John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames have completed their three day holiday break and they’ve called up a player from the American Hockey League. The club announced on Tuesday morning that they’ve summoned forward Radim Zohorna from the Calgary Wranglers.

(The club has also announced the re-assignments of Matthew Phillips and Nick DeSimone, which were executed on Dec. 23 and hit the salary cap on Dec. 24.)

Zohorna was previously recalled when Kevin Rooney was sent to the AHL, and has functionally taken his spot as fourth line centre, albeit he’s also occasionally been bumped to the sidelines when Darryl Sutter has rotated forward bodies. Zohorna has zero points in five NHL games this season and 16 points in 20 AHL games this season.

The moves give the Flames a 22-man active roster (two goalies, seven defencemen and 13 forwards) with one player on the injury reserve (Dennis Gilbert) and one on the non-roster list (Oliver Kylington).
