David Savard Out Indefinitely After Crazy Series for Canadiens

In response to Savard’s absence, the Canadiens have called up defenseman Gustav Lindstrom from AHL Laval on an emergency basis. Lindstrom’s promotion highlights the team’s need for defensive support in the wake of Savard’s injury.

Savard’s absence will undoubtedly be felt on the ice. Known for his tenacity and resilience, he showcased his grit in a recent penalty kill shift, blocking shots and making crucial plays despite losing his hockey stick and skate blade. Head coach Martin St. Louis said, “I feel like (Savard) does it every night.” He adds, “He doesn’t lose his blade like that every night. Savvy’s a hockey player. There’s a big difference between someone who plays hockey and a hockey player, and Savvy’s showing that game in and game out that he’s a hockey player. You can’t have too many of those guys. That’s what he does.”

The Injuries Keep Adding Up for Canadiens
