Calgary Flames Sign Defenceman Mark Pysyk
Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Flames General Manager Craig Conroy signed defenceman Mark Pysyk to a one-year, two-way contract today in a move to secure more depth on the Calgary Wranglers blue line. The 31-year-old from Sherwood Park, Alberta has ten seasons of NHL experience.

Per Conroy:

“Mark is a right shot defenceman who provides depth on the blue line for our organization. He is a versatile player with significant NHL experience.”

Pysyk missed the 2022-2023 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon. The former Strathcona Warrior ran in to injury trouble in late September of this preseason. Pittsburgh Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan reflected on Pysyk’s injury situation. “It’s unfortunate because we were really looking forward to watching Mark throughout the course of the exhibition season, getting him in some games and where he might potentially fit with our team.”
