Buffalo Sabres resurrecting "goathead" logo for 2022-23 season

The opening of NHL training camps is just a few weeks away, and the Buffalo Sabres gave their fans a reason to be excited by bringing back their retro jersey logo.

The New York hockey club announced on Wednesday that it is bringing back its red-and-black "goathead" sweaters as an alternate third jersey for the upcoming 2022-23 campaign. Buffalo made the announcement on social media with a short cartoon that was a bit demonic with hints of a "Stranger Things"-style Upside Down theme.

The infamous goathead, which the team rocked from 1996-2006, is scheduled to be worn 12 times this upcoming season including its debut in November when the Sabres play on "90s Night" against the St. Louis Blues.

The Sabres finished 24th overall in the NHL last season and dead last in the 2020-21 season. They have not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 season.
