Bruins’ Linus Ullmark leaves game vs. Coyotes with injury
Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Boston Bruins netminder Linus Ullmark had to be helped off the ice in overtime during Tuesday night’s game against the Arizona Coyotes.

Ullmark went to make a high glove save and appeared to over-stretch himself while doing so. He logged 32 saves and a .914 save percentage through 62:06 minutes of action. Backup goaltender Jeremy Swayman came to the rescue and filled in, ultimately giving up the overtime goal.

This season, Ullmark has put together a record of 13-5-2 to go with a .917 save percentage through 21 games.

Last season, the 30-year-old won the Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s Top Goaltender after posting a 40–6–1 record, two shutouts, and a .938 save percentage in 49 games with the Bruins during the 2022–23 regular season. While battling injury, he went 3–3 with an .896 save percentage in six games with the Bruins during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Ullmark and Swayman previously won the William M. Jennings Trophy for collectively allowing the fewest goals of any NHL goaltending tandem during the 2022–23 regular season.

The Buffalo Sabres originally selected the Lugvnik, Sweden product in the sixth round, No. 163 overall, of the 2012 NHL Draft. The six-foot-five goaltender spent parts of six seasons with the Sabres before signing with the Bruins in 2021. Through 227 career games with the Sabres and Bruins, Ullmark has posted a 129–68–18 record, six shutouts, and a .919 save percentage. He’s under contract through 2025 at a $5 million annual cap hit.

The Bruins will face the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday and St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Expect an update on Ullmark tomorrow or in the following days.
