Boston Bruins react to record-setting start at home

On Friday, the Boston Bruins came from behind to beat the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-2, setting an NHL record by winning each of their first 12 home games to start the season.

After the victory, many from the Bruins, including head coach Jim Montgomery, shared their thoughts about the miraculous feat.

While there's no doubt he had a hand in the streak, Montgomery gave all the credit to his team, saying it doesn't happen "if those guys don't believe in themselves like they do."

David Pastrnak praised the raucous crowd at the TD Garden on Friday, calling them "our seventh player out there."

David Krejci called winning 12 in a row at home "pretty special" while adding that the crowd provided motivation "to come out there and do the job."

The Bruins' hot start has Patrice Bergeron and the team thinking big things. After the record-setting victory, Bergeron said they have "something special" in Boston and hope to keep things rolling as the season continues.

Early on Friday, the Bruins' streak was in peril after the Hurricanes jumped out to an early 2-0 lead off first-period goals by Stefan Nosen and Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

However, after Krejci got the Bruins on the board in the second period, he tied the game at 10:27 of the third period, forcing overtime.

In OT, Pastrnak scored on the powerplay at 3:19, giving the Bruins the victory and an NHL record.

At 18-3-0, the Bruins own the best record in the NHL and the division lead in the Atlantic. Boston will have the chance to extend its home winning streak on Tuesday when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
