Blackhawks Gameday #19: Winning Another One
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks (6-12) take on its divisional foe the St. Louis Blues (10-8-1) in the first regular season matchup of the season. Puck drop is 1pm.

Previously on Blackhawks Hockey:

The Blackhawks arguably had their finest performance of the season which saw them really from a 3-1 deficit, Jason Dickinson record a hat trick, and Kevin Korchinski pot the game winner in overtime. Chicago won 4-3 and snapped its five-game losing streak.

And now, a bit on the Blues

The Blues currently sit in the top wild card spot in the West, two points ahead of Calgary with a game in hand. At the quarter pole point following this afternoon’s game, St. Louis is chugging along after missing the playoffs last season. But they’re coming off an 8-3 beating at the hands of the Nashville Predators  on Friday. This after winning seven of its last 10 heading into that game.

Likely the Blues come in looking to avenge it.

Miscellaneous Musings

They have yet to string a winning streak together this season–now’s the time to start.

Best Case/Worst Case/Final Verdict

Best Case – The Blackhawks come out riding the momentum from Friday’s win, putting together another impressive performance that results in their second win in a row.

Worst Case – Friday looks like an oasis in the middle of a losing streak and the Blackhawks lose

Final Verdict –  Friday’s game looked like another ho-hum loss for the Blackhawks until they really pushed the attack and play late in the second period. From there, they rode the momentum and won the game. Another spirited, physical and all out effort could result in a similar outcome.
