Zach Mettenberger joins new wave of former Titans coaching at the high school level
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

A handful of former Tennessee Titans players are coming to a sideline near you.

There has always been a strong presence of former Titans coaching at the high school level. But the most recent hiring cycle has seen multiple former Titans quarterbacks return to the gridiron in various coaching roles.

The latest example comes in the form of Zach Mettenberger, who has rejoined the coaching staff at Father Ryan High School. Mettenberger was an assistant with the Irish in the 2021 season, but spent the past two years down in Tuscaloosa as an analyst under the legendary Nick Saban at Alabama.

This time around Mettenberger will serve as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Father Ryan. It's safe to say the Mett Show meets the qualifications for the job.

Mettenberger has strong roots in the coaching business. After all, he used to quarterback for his now father-in-law Ken Whisenhunt during their time together in Tennessee from 2014-2015.

Mettenberger is likely to face fellow former Titans signal caller Matt Hasselbeck after the latter took an offensive coordinator job on his brother Tim's staff at Ensworth School. With both high schools in Division II-AAA, it's fair to assume points will be aplenty if the two offensive minds are opposite each other on a Friday night in the fall.

Not to be outdone, Kerry Collins accepted the offensive coordinator job at Summit High School on the 6A level where he will also serve as the quarterbacks coach. Collins was hired in early April after he spent two seasons at Franklin High School as a volunteer quarterbacks coach.

Other notable Titans connections coaching in Tennessee:

HC - Ingle Martin - Christ Presbyterian Academy
HC - Justin Geisinger - Franklin Road Academy
HC - Avery Williamson - Milan High School
OC- Antonio Andrews - Hillsboro High School
RBs - Dexter McCluster - Independence High School
DBs - Blaine Bishop - Independence High School
