While Nakobe Dean will continue to steal the headlines over what the Eagles did at linebacker this offseason; Kyzir White is a name that should not be overlooked. The former safety-turned-linebacker will be a huge wildcard for Jonathan Gannon’s defense this season.

Kyzir White spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Chargers. While the first three weren’t as productive, his fourth season showed the leap that he was ready to make within the Chargers’ defense.

He started 17 games for Los Angeles and posted 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 1 sack, and 144 total tackles. Kyzir White held his own in the passing game but that’s still a place where he needs to develop more in. The former Charger allowed a completion percentage of 76% against him for 358 yards.

He’ll hold a special place in the Eagles’ defense due to his versatility. He has quick speed at the linebacker position which will allow the defense to operate from a position of strength when they need to go “smaller”. His presence will also allow Nakobe Dean to get acclimated to his role. Being a young player in the NFL on a new team can really allow for certain bonds to form.

If Kyzir White and Nakobe Dean can get on the same page and feed off of each other; the Eagles could have a special tandem on their hands. After years of the Linebacker position being a weakness for this defense, it seems like Philadelphia may have something special on their hands if Gannon and company can unlock its potential.
