Watch: Jalen Hurts burns San Francisco 49ers with 91-yard pass
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts and his Philadelphia Eagles were backed up at their own three yard line against the San Francisco 49ers in the second quarter of Sunday’s game.

Leading 3-0, that’s when Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni decided to open up the playbook for his young quarter.

Throwing from his own end zone, Hurts hit wide receiver Quez Watkins down the right sideline on a 91-yard pass — burning stud rookie cornerback Deommodore Lenoir in the process.

What a gutsy play call from the Eagles here. As for Jalen Hurts, he could not have thrown a better pass. It is what separates his play-making ability from what we saw from Carson Wentz in Philadelphia over the past few seasons.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they ended up getting too cute on the other side of the field. On fourth down from the 49ers’ three, they attempted to go with a wide receiver pass from Greg Ward to Hurts. It failed miserably.
