Watch: Fans fail to recognize Giants' Daniel Jones in undercover retail worker prank

Despite being the starting quarterback of one of the NFL's historically better franchises, which is located in the country's largest media market, Daniel Jones blends in seamlessly with a crowd.

Although the New York Giants signal-caller turned down a role in the second season of Netflix's "Quarterback," Jones found a rather humorous way to illustrate what a day in his life looks like. Teaming up with the fashion brand Hugo Boss to promote a partnership with the Giants, Jones went "undercover" as a salesperson at the company's store inside the American Dream retail and entertainment complex.

However, unlike Lions quarterback Jared Goff's junior college transfer prank or his predecessor Eli Manning's "Chad Powers" tryout at Penn State, Jones didn't wear an absurd disguise. Even so, a "Boss" brand hoodie and a pair of khakis were more than enough for him to go unnoticed by fans.

After being ignored by some shoppers and a self-proclaimed "big Giants fan" having no idea he was talking to Jones, one Eagles fan realized he was in the presence of the quarterback. Jones wasn't deterred from pitching the Giants apparel to the Eagles fan, but the animosity between the two NFC East teams was too much to overcome.

"You know, my parents wouldn’t be too happy,” the Eagles fan said.

“I’m sure you’ve disappointed your parents before,” Jones jokingly replied. “It’s alright.”

Eventually, one Giants fan ended up recognizing Jones at first glance before taking a selfie with the former sixth-overall pick.

For the Giants fanbase, it's encouraging to see Jones be comfortable enough to provide a glimpse of his personality after appearing to be a rather awkward interviewee in the early stages of his career. Having signed a four-year, $160 million deal probably contributes to some of that heightened confidence.

The 26-year-old aims to build on his encouraging 2022 performance which came under less-than-ideal circumstances, throwing to a lackluster receiving corps and playing behind a shaky offensive line. Last season, Jones completed 67.2% of his passes for 3,205 yards while rushing for 708 yards, all career highs. Still, his 15 touchdown passes and 5.1 completed air yards per completion (27th among quarterbacks) leave much to be desired.

Nonetheless, if Jones can replicate some of last season's brilliance and guide the Giants back to the playoffs, perhaps he'll garner more attention from the public.
