Vikings' Patrick Peterson details 'disrespect' from Cardinals GM

Patrick Peterson is still sounding off on Cardinals general manager Steve Keim, and he isn't holding back.

Two days after first being spotted calling Keim out, Peterson took to his podcast to clarify his comments that the GM needs to "stop running" and give him a call -- and detailed how the Cardinals GM "disrespected" him when he left Arizona last year.

"I'm just laying out facts of what happened to me when I was a part of the organization," the former Cardinal told co-host Bryant McFadden on CBS Sports' "All Things Covered" podcast. "I feel like, being an all-time great, doing things that nobody's done in that organization as far as going to eight straight Pro Bowls ...

"I just felt like I shouldn't have been treated in that manner."

Peterson, who left the Cardinals organization in a tumultuous fashion in 2021, went on to detail how Keim sat him down for a seemingly run-of-the-mill exit meeting and said the Cardinals didn't want the veteran corner to test the free-agent market.

"(He said) 'I want you to retire here, man, I love you to death, I won't dare let you go anywhere,'" Peterson reflected. "'I promise you we're gonna do everything we can to keep you around.'"

According to Peterson, Keim and the Cardinals' front office gave him the cold shoulder for three months even as Peterson sat and didn't talk to other teams. The Pro Bowler didn't hear from Keim again until he signed with a new team.

"As soon as I signed [with Minnesota], I get this long text message from none other than Steve Keim," Peterson said. "I'm like, 'Come on, bruh.' To me, that's where the disrespect just went, to me, [to] an all-time high."

Peterson went on to say he knows GMs look at their phones and he knows he was ignored.

"Just be like, 'Alright, P, we're moving on.' I'm fine with that. I'm a grown man."

He added that he has no issues with the Cardinals as a whole or for their fanbase, but that "I'm still waiting on that phone call" from Keim.

If Keim ever does pick up the phone and call Peterson, chances are the two wouldn't be discussing the Vikings' 36-24 win over the Cardinals last weekend. The corner will just have to settle for a win over his former team while he waits for the phone to ring.
