Vikings lose defensive lineman James Lynch to torn ACL
USA TODAY Sports

The Vikings have lost backup defensive lineman James Lynch for the entire 2023-24 season. Lynch suffered a torn ACL on Thursday and will need season-ending surgery, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Lynch was a fourth-round pick by the Vikings in 2020 and has played in 37 games over three seasons, including 16 games last season when he was on the field for 276 defensive snaps, resulting in 16 tackles and three quarterback pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.

Harrison Phillips, Khyris Tonga and Dean Lowry are projected starters on the Vikings defensive line, with the likes of Jonathan Bullard, Esezi Otomewo, Jacquelin Roy, Ross Blacklock, Sheldon Day, Junior Aho, Calvin Avery and T.J. Smith battling for depth roles.
