Vikings add Myles Gaskin as running back injuries mount

A day after Alexander Mattison suffered a concussion, the Minnesota Vikings have signed running back Myles Gaskin to the practice squad, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Gaskin signed with the Vikings during training camp before the Rams signed him off Minnesota's practice squad on Oct. 18. He didn't play in any games for the Vikings or Rams, but his opportunity could come in his second stint with Minnesota as the running back depth is lacking.

Mattison's status for Denver this coming Sunday night is up in the air because he's going through the NFL's concussion protocol after he took a big hit from New Orleans linebacker Pete Werner. Minnesota lost Cam Akers to a ruptured Achilles eight days ago in Atlanta, leaving Minnesota with Ty Chandler as the top running back and Kene Nwangwu as the backup.

Gaskin joins rookie DeWayne McBride as running backs on the practice squad.

Gasking, 26, started 17 of 38 games with the Dolphins from 2019 to 2022 and totaled 361 carries for 1,355 yards and seven touchdowns, along with 101 receptions for 701 yards and six touchdowns.
