UCLA Football: Former Michigan State Commit Trending Towards Bruins
USA TODAY Sports

With early signing day quickly approaching, UCLA recruiting would do well to add to their 2024 recruiting class. They have just 11 commits as it stands. Compared to cross-town rival and fellow Big 10 newcomer USC, UCLA has nearly half as many recruits in their 2024 class.

Under the shadow of Dante Moore's decision to enter the transfer portal is a 2024 quarterback from the other side of the country who's fresh off an official visit to UCLA. Xaverian Brothers (Westwood, MA) 2024 quarterback Henry Hasselbeck , the son of former three-time Pro Bowl NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, is currently trending toward UCLA. According to 247 Sports, Hasselbeck's most likely landing spot is UCLA since he de-committed from Michigan State last month. In fact, UCLA offered Hasselbeck the same day he de-committed from Michigan State.

Boston College looks to be the lone competitor in the race for Hasselbeck, as he took a visit to BC on December 13th. Boston College is much closer to Hasselbeck's home in Massachusetts, where he lead his team to a state championship during his final season at Xaverian Brothers High School.

For some context, UCLA currently has one quarterback committed in their 2024 class, that's Texas product Karson Gordon who UCLA recruited fairly heavily.

Depending on how well the Boston College visit went (his sister plays lacrosse there), UCLA looks to be in good position to welcome two quarterbacks in this year's cycle. This should help shoulder the load brought about with the exodus UCLa is currently facing to the transfer portal.
