Tyreek Hill Puts Rams Legend in 5 Greatest WRs; No Jerry Rice?

Between the on-field success that he's had with the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins, lightning-fast receiver Tyreek Hill appears destined to one day have a bust in Canton. And in addition to a gold jacket, perhaps he'll eventually be considered one of the greatest to ever play the receiver position. 

For the time being, the four-time All-Pro isn't quite in that conversation. And in a recent appearance on NFL Network, Hill ranked his top five receivers of all-time, a list that included a Rams legend, and excluded perhaps the greatest player to ever play the position. 

"If I'm going all-time, I'm going A.B. (Antonio Brown) ... T.O. (Terrell Owens) ... I'm a Torry Holt fan ... a lot of people may be mad at me, I love Torry Holt," Hill said.

Hill would go on to list Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss, two Hall of Famers. Notably not on his list was Jerry Rice, a 10-time All-Pro who holds the NFL records for most receptions (1,549), receiving yards (22,895) and receiving touchdowns (197). There's a case to be made that Rice is the greatest player to ever suit up in the NFL at any position, although quarterback Tom Brady and pass rushers Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White certainly would have something to say about that. 

Nonetheless, it's pretty surprising to see Rice left off Hill's list, but it appears to just be a matter of the 29-year-old being too young to remember Rice's peak. 

"A lot of people get mad at me because I don't put Jerry Rice in my category," Hill said. "I love Jerry Rice -- he played a long time in the NFL. He's like the alpha of our position. He wasn't playing in the sweet spot where I was able to watch. I was able to, in my rookie year, watch prime A.B. go out there and go for like 200."

Whether Holt is one of the five greatest receivers ever or not, his inclusion on Hill's list is a reminder of how glaring it is for the long-time St. Louis Ram not to be in the Hall of Fame yet. In a decade with the Rams, Holt had 869 receptions for 12,660 yards and 74 touchdowns. He, quarterback Kurt Warner, running back Marshall Faulk and fellow receiver Isaac Bruce were the core pieces for "the Greatest Show on Turf" Rams, and it's past time for Holt to join the other three in the Hall of Fame.
