Titans star to miss a few weeks after being carted off practice field

NFL Network's Ian Rapport reported that Burks suffered an LCL sprain and is expected to miss only a few weeks, which is good news for the Titans considering they could have been looking at a meniscal or ACL tear that may have been season-ending.

"I just went over and checked on him; you hate seeing that,'' quarterback Ryan Tannehill said, via ESPN’s Turron Davenport. "We'll find out more information and see what's going on. Hopefully he'll be alright. He seemed upset, and understandably so. Thoughts and prayers are with him right now and hopefully it's not too bad.”

Losing Burks for any period of the regular season would have been a significant blow to the Titans offense. Many anticipate the 23-year-old wideout to have a breakout season in 2023 playing opposite five-time Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

“It's very concerning,” safety Kevin Byard added. "Obviously, we don't know the severity of it, and nothing is confirmed yet. I heard about it when we kind of went to special teams, and obviously, praying for him and hopefully everything is going well. He's a big part of what we do as an offense and what we do as a team, so you want everything to be OK. … [Vrabel] doesn't speak too much about injuries and I didn't ask him about it. Hopefully, we'll get back to the hotel and hear some good news.''

Burks caught 33 of his 54 targets last season for 444 yards and one touchdown. He was expected to be the focal point of the Titans’ passing offense under first-year offensive coordinator Tim Kelly.
