Titans kicker Nick Folk has played in a shocking amount of stadiums
USA TODAY Sports

NASHVILLE -- Last time Tennessee Titans kicker Nick Folk was in London on a business trip was in 2015 when his New York Jets played the Miami Dolphins (and Ryan Tannehill) at Wembley Stadium.

Before Folk took the field for the Jets at Wembley, he was able to make a pit stop at an English Premier League game while he was in town. Folk noted to me on Wednesday that he is an EPL fan that supports Manchester United.

This Sunday, Folk will visit another EPL stadium when the Titans take on the Ravens at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Amazingly, it will be the 43rd stadium Folk has played an NFL game in, he told me Wednesday.

"It'll be fun to play at a new stadium," said Folk of playing at Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. "I always love playing at a bunch of different stadiums. I think in my career I've played in an NFL game or an NFL sanctioned game at 42 different stadiums or something like that. I've played a bunch of different places so it'll be fun to get a new one under the belt."

It didn't occur to me just how absurd of a number 42 (soon to be 43) stadiums really was until I started asking other players on the team.

Defensive lineman Denico Autry and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins both estimated their career stadium number to be somewhere between 32-34. Offensive coordinator Tim Kelly was one step below them.

Long snapper Morgan Cox, who had been in the league since 2010, believed his total to be close to 36. Cox reminded me that in order to play both home and away against every team, NFL players need to stay with the same team for eight consecutive seasons.

But in order to get to Folk's 42, you'd need to do a lot more than have career longevity and tenure with one team. There are only 30 active NFL stadiums. In order to get to 42, I'd imagine you would have to play in London, Mexico City, the Hall of Fame Game, and a good number of retired stadiums. You'd also have to get really lucky with scheduling.

With his 43rd stadium coming soon, Folk has been around the block in the National Football League. That invaluable experience is probably a big reason why he's been a stone cold 13-for-13 on field goal attempts this season.
