Texans' Deshaun Watson: 'I couldn't be more honored and humbled to sign' with Houston

The Houston Texans locked up Deshaun Watson through 2025 on a four-year, $160 million deal on Saturday, and the star quarterback couldn't be any happier.

After the news about his deal was revealed, Watson released a lengthy statement about how happy he was to be signing a long-term deal with the organization that drafted him 12th overall in 2017.

"I couldn't be more honored and humbled to sign a long-term deal in Houston, the city that I've grown to love so much and now call my home," Watson wrote.

Houston's signing of Watson comes after the Kansas City Chiefs locked up Patrick Mahomes on a 10-year, $503 million deal. Although his contract isn't as large as Mahomes', Watson deserves every bit of money he'll receive.

In three seasons with the Texans, Watson is 24-13, completing 66.8 percent of his passes for 9,716 yards and 71 touchdowns against 29 interceptions. The two-time Pro Bowler has led the Texans to the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. However, they haven't made it past the divisional round.

With Watson signed, the Texans now can focus on other areas of their roster in order to propel them past the divisional round in future seasons.
