Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been taking it on the chin after Green Bay’s 27-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans on “Thursday Night Football.”
While Rodgers has taken the brunt of the blame for the Packers’ losing six of their last seven games, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently ripped into the three-time NFL MVP for sabotaging Green Bay’s season before it even began.
“I will tell you why I hold Aaron Rodgers more accountable than anything else,” Smith recently said on an episode of First Take. “I’ve said this religiously as this season has progressed. I hold Aaron Rodgers primarily responsible for the departure of Davante Adams. Because the bottom line is Davante Adams is an all-world receiver.
“[Adams] is on the record stating that part of the reason that he departed for Vegas wasn’t just to play with his college buddy Derek Carr…it’s because Rodgers was humming and hawing about wanting to retire or wanting to move on from Green Bay, and he wasn’t steadfast about remaining a Green Bay Packer.”

In recent weeks, Rodgers has become more of a distraction than anything. He’s clashed with head coach Matt LaFleur regarding play calling, he’s called out most of his receivers for not living up to his expectations, and he even challenged the coaching staff to simplify the offense and stop doing too much.
But at 4-7 and on the outside looking in regarding the NFC playoff race, many have questioned if Rodgers is fully committed to the Packers. There’s also a growing contingency calling for the Packers to bench Rodgers and start third-year QB Jordan Love.
