Steelers Cut Former Baylor CB
USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers have freed a second spot on their practice squad heading into Week 4 as they released for Carolina Panthers and Baylor Bears cornerback Kalon Barnes, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.

Barnes was only in Pittsburgh for roughly a week before his departure. His addition to the practice squad spark some interest as he's commonly known for running a 4.23 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. But since being drafted by the Carolina Panthers and appearing in two games, he hasn't found a consistent new home in the NFL.

The Steelers also brought in former Ravens wide receiver James Proche for a workout, according to Wilson. Proche is a former sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft who played 17 games for Baltimore and 43 throughout his NFL career.

The Steelers currently have two openings to their practice squad after releasing Barnes and having the Los Angeles Chargers sign wide receiver Simi Fehoko off their practice squad.
