Claypool slow to get up after making great catch in HOF Game
Chase Claypool had a great first catch of the season, but he looked a little shaky getting up afterward. Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

We’re not 100% sure why the Pittsburgh Steelers were playing stud wide receiver Chase Claypool in the second quarter of their preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys Thursday evening.

Typically, starters don’t even see the field in this annual game. Fortunately for Steelers fans on hand in Canton, the Notre Dame product made the first great catch of the NFL preseason. Unfortunately, he also suffered some sort of injury after landing on the ball.

That was pretty darn good ball placement from Mason Rudolph. It’s also rather unfair for the Cowboys to expect a rookie in Nahshon Wright to go up against the star second-year receiver.

A second-round pick last year, Claypool recorded 62 receptions for 873 yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie.

As for the injury, it does appear that the big-bodied pass-catcher merely had the wind knocked out of him.
