Seahawks bring in former Cowboys defender ahead of huge Dallas test
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Seattle Seahawks might have a hard time slowing down the Dallas Cowboys' offense in Week 13, but at least they now have a player who could provide some insider knowledge.

Seattle signed former Cowboys cornerback Kelvin Joseph to its practice squad on Sunday as the Seahawks prepare to face Dallas on Thursday Night Football.

His arrival comes after starting cornerback Riq Woolen was pulled from the Seahawks' 31-13 Thanksgiving loss to the San Francisco 49ers because of a shoulder injury, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Woolen is expected to return to the starting lineup to face Dallas, but Joseph provides some extra insurance.

Joseph was a second-round pick of the Cowboys in 2021. He started three games for Dallas in his first two seasons. He was traded to the Miami Dolphins in August but was released this month after playing only four games.

The Seahawks also signed receiver Cody White to the practice squad. In corresponding moves, guard Ben Brown was released and linebacker Levi Bell was placed on injured reserve.

Seattle had little answer for the San Francisco offense last Thursday, with the 49ers' final net yardage number of 377 flattering the Seahawks. Dallas has put up 38.6 points per game since returning from its Week 7 bye, with the Cowboys averaging 435 yards per game in that span.

The Seahawks are eight-point underdogs on the road in Dallas. Having dropped to 6-5 with their defeat to the 49ers, a loss to the Cowboys would put them in danger of falling out of the NFC playoff positions.

Seattle enters Week 13 as the seven seed but is just a game up on the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams, the latter holding a tiebreaker after sweeping their season series.
