Russell Wilson's new QB coach is a 28-year-old first-timer

Russell Wilson had himself a bad year in his first campaign with the Denver Broncos. We don't need to mince words about it. It was awful.

He now has a new head coach in Sean Payton, which must be encouraging. His new quarterback coach is a bit of a head-scratcher, though. Adam Schefter is reporting that the Broncos are hiring former NFL journeyman quarterback Davis Webb for the position.

This is not to say that Webb won't be a good coach, but we just don't know.

The good news? He does at least have actual NFL experience to rely on, but it is mostly as a backup.

Drafted in the third round of the 2017 draft by the New York Giants, Webb appeared in just two games over a handful of years in the league. He did actually get a start last season while the Giants were resting Daniel Jones Week 18. He completed 23 of 40 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown.

It wasn't a bad outing, but does he have what it takes at just 28 years old to coach up a famous veteran in Wilson and help him bounce back from arguably the worst season of his career?

It's tough to see Wilson taking much advice, let alone coaching, from Webb, but at this point...what does he have to lose? At the very least, Payton knows what he's doing offensively. So, if he OK'd Webb in his new position, Wilson will have to roll with the punches for a while.
