Report shares what's likely next for retired Eagles star Jason Kelce

As had been expected since January, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce officially announced his retirement from playing in the NFL on Monday afternoon. 

Around that same time, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported that NBC, CBS and ESPN are "the likeliest landing spots" assuming Kelce wants to start working as an in-studio NFL analyst next season. 

"For both NBC’s and CBS’ NFL pregame shows on Sundays, Kelce could easily commute from his home in Philadelphia, making the national TV jobs a one- or two-day work week," Marchand explained. "NBC’s program is located in Stamford, Conn., while CBS’ is in Manhattan." 

It was previously reported that Kelce met with ESPN and Fox Sports after the Eagles fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round of the playoffs "to discuss possibly linking up." Back in January, Marchand revealed in a piece published by the New York Post that CBS' "The NFL Today" program would have multiple openings after Super Bowl LVIII. 

Specifically, CBS personalities Nate Burleson, Bill Cowher, Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms are currently free agents. Ben Axelrod of Awful Announcing mentioned in February that CBS in-game analysts Matt Ryan, Jason McCourty and Ross Tucker could be options for "The NFL Today" if Kelce signs elsewhere. 

"While NBC and CBS are viewed as the favorites, ESPN is always a stalking horse and has interest," Marchand said about Kelce on Monday. "It has a variety of shows from its marquees on Sunday and Monday to its daily NFL programs."

Marchand also suggested that Kelce and Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, Jason's brother, could move their popular "New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce" podcast to Amazon en route to Jason becoming a contributor for that outlet's "Thursday Night Football" coverage. 

Travis is expected to run it back with the Chiefs as they attempt to become the first franchise in history to win three straight Super Bowl championships, but he and Jason could eventually become a package deal for a company such as Amazon. 

Jason and his wife, Kylie, were spotlighted in an Amazon documentary that detailed how the Chiefs and Eagles completed trips to Super Bowl LVII during the 2022 season.
