One season away from the game and Robbie Gould is back in football.

He's not in the NFL, but he's back in the sport.

According to a report by Michael O'Brien of the Sun-Times, the former Bears-49ers-Giants kicker has been hired by Rolling Meadows High School as their new head football coach.

Gould is the all-time Bears scoring leader with 1,207 points, recorded from 2005-16. Ryan Pace and John Fox cut Gould after training camp in 2016 and he went on to kick the rest of that season with the Giants and then six seasons for the 49ers. He made 86.5% of his field goals, including 88.1% once he left Chicago.

Gould, who is 41, made all 29 field goals and all 39 extra points he attempted in the postseason. He has remained a Chicago area resident even after leaving the Bears.

Rolling Meadows High, the school that produced Jimmy Garoppolo, is situated in the northwest suburbs a stone's throw from the site of the proposed Bears domed stadium at Arlington International Racecourse.

Gould comes in after a 2-7 Rolling Meadows season under coach Sam Baker. The Mustangs were last in the state playoffs in 2021-22 and have an 13-21 record since the 2020 season, which was moved to spring and shortened due to the pandemic. Prior to that, they'd gone 72-25 under coach Matt Mishler.
